What Is the CMA USA Course?

The CMA USA

The CMA USA (Certified Management Accountant) is a certification provided by the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) that focuses on finance, analysis, planning, performance management, and cost management, as well as strategic business decision-making. Contrary to popular belief, it does not train accountants to file tax returns or create financial statements; rather, it prepares qualified professionals to perform financial analysis and make important business decisions based on their findings. The CMA exam consists of two parts that must be passed within three years of registering for the certification exam. Candidates may take the tests in either order.

Part 1 covers Financial Planning, Performance, and Analytics, whereas Part 2 covers Strategic Financial Management. The CMA credential is valuable to students and professionals who want to pursue a career in financial analysis, management accounting, corporate finance, FP&A, and strategic business decision-making.
